The One Small Thing That Makes LOOM's Erica Chidi Cohen Feel Powerful
As the co-founder and CEO of L.A.'s first reproductive and pregnancy wellness center, LOOM, Erica Chidi Cohen is at the helm of a big—and much-needed—movement in empowered education around topics from periods to parenting.
At the heart of her work is a "focus on helping people feel confident in their bodies, move through transitions in their lives, and develop body literacy to advocate for their own well-being." For the doula and educator, getting there is a mix of offering community classes and coaching, as well as encouraging unapologetic self-care.
We caught up with Erica at her home in L.A. to glean some of her wisdom and get a look into the daily practices that help her make empowered choices for herself. "Ultimately, my approach to self-care is, Be gentle with yourself but aggressive about creating space for the things that make you feel good," she says. "Self-care doesn't have to be a walk or a bath; it can be saying no or creating boundaries. It can be one small thing that makes a big difference. You're a force of nature by owning who you are and the path you're on."
