Jessica Biel's Latest Venture Has Wellness Written All Over It
Jessica Biel is no stranger to the wellness world. Even as a new mom and actress who juggles her lifelong love of yoga and fitness and, as of recently, cryotherapy sessions with her beau Justin Timberlake, Jessica prioritizes her well-being both on- and off-screen in fresh and new ways. Now, as Gaiam’s first-ever brand ambassador, Biel is taking on yoga activewear as her next terrain in the world of wellness with her new collection in collaboration with the brand. The collection is available exclusively at Kohl's and features affordable capris, leggings, tops and jackets, inspired by the elegance and style of runway fashion.
We caught up with Biel in an exclusive mbg interview to chat about the collection, her relationship with yoga, the wellness rituals that keep her afloat, and why we need to expand what yoga looks like in today’s modern and global world.
She practices yoga for the feel-good effect.
For Biel, who’s been a yoga devotee for over 10 years, yoga is the part of her routine that stabilizes her busy schedule and enhances other aspects of her life. "Yoga is about having something that’s just for me—the benefits outnumber so many other ways to relieve stress or take time for yourself." If anything, it’s the one constant in her day-to-day that she’s committed to. "It’s something that I refuse to let go of in my life. I really try and manage and maintain." Biel also expressed her appreciation for the breathwork component of yoga. "I think the breathwork element of yoga incorporates is something unique to exercise and movement. It adds so many benefits for cleansing of the internal body."
Yoga helps her stay judgment-free.
As with any self-care practice, Biel looks to yoga as the compass to help her steer life, goals, duties, and more in the right direction. "I feel so rejuvenated, clear, and calm and ready to set into my day. I feel ready to handle any 3-year-old disaster or on-set crisis, without judgment."
Wellness practices that keep her grounded.
When it comes to her wellness rituals, Biel likes to combine yoga and meditation into one practice. And she also works with crystals to help balance her chakras and flower essences to apply to skin or ingest for a boost in overall confidence. "I find incorporating these rituals into my life very healing for the mind and body."
Her ideal activewear balances fashion and function.
Biel’s go-to factors for activewear? Functionality and style. "If i’m really busy, I want to be able to throw on a jacket or a pair of heels. I like having pieces that can cross into different worlds. Today, activewear is really everyday wear, and I think that’s something women want."
Jessica Biel planned for a natural birth, but she ended up agreeing to a C-section—here's why.
